Manufacturing Process of Natural Diamond (ND) Dies
Step 1: Material Selection
•Choose high-quality natural diamond crystals with minimal impurities.
•Evaluate the crystal’s orientation and hardness to ensure suitability for the intended wire diameter.
Step 2: Shaping
•The diamond is cut and shaped into a cylindrical or conical form using lasers or precision grinders.
•This ensures structural integrity and minimizes material wastage.
Step 3: Casing
•The diamond is mounted into a stainless-steel case (regularly 25mm, 28mm or 30mm diameter cylinder. Space between the diamond and steel case will be filled with high-strength sintering powder.
•The die is ready for the sintering process. With high-pressure and high-temperature, the diamond die is integrated as a whole.
• CNC machine and lathe work to make the diamond surface open and blend to case.
Step 4: Laser drill
•Advanced designed laser drill machine can make the hole in the center of a die. The hole size and profile are highly finished.
Step 5: Polishing and Finishing
•The die’s bore is polished to a mirror-like finish using diamond paste or other abrasive materials.
•This ensures smooth wire drawing with minimal friction and wear.
Step 6: Quality Inspection
•Microscopic and dimensional inspections(2D&3D) are conducted to confirm precision and surface finish.
